Job summary

Europcar Mobility Group is seeking a part-time Sales & Customer Service Officer for our Greymouth team. Join a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, and help customers choose and rent vehicles while promoting extra products and services.

Ideal candidates will have sales or retail experience, strong communication skills, and a valid New Zealand drivers license. This role requires rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays, with ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in sales, customer service or retail.
• Car rental experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• NZ drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Full working rights in New Zealand (current and ongoing).

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in renting vehicles based on their preferences and needs.
• Process rental agreements accurately and efficiently.
• Promote and upsell additional products and services.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, with a service-first approach.
• Achieve or exceed individual and team sales targets.
• Inspect vehicles before and after rental periods, noting any damages.
• Maintain knowledge of current promotions, services, and products to assist with sales efforts.
• Build strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
• Detailing and cleaning vehicles to business quality standards.
• Refuel and transport vehicles.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

To be considered, you should possess:

• Previous experience in sales, customer service or retail
• Car rental experience is highly desirable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset
• Confident using computer systems and technology
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Flexibility to work on a rotating shift roster - 7 day shift work including weekends and public holidays
• Valid New Zealand driver's license with a clean driving record
• Full working rights in New Zealand (current and ongoing)
• A positive, proactive and team-oriented attitude!

At the end of the 19th century, the car was a luxury reserved for the elite, but interested everyone, attracting crowds: in 1898, the first car show was held in Paris. Car rental will see the light a few years later, across the Atlantic, but its development will be stopped by the first and then by the Second World Wars. In the aftermath of the war, a Parisian entrepreneur revived the idea: “If you can’t afford to buy a car, why not rent one when you need it?”. His name was Raoul-Louis Mattei and in 1949, he created "L'Abonnement Automobile": a company that would later become the Compagnie Internationale Europcars, then Europcar. Its headquarters, located 11 rue du Champ de Mars also included a rental agency. The company's success was rapid, as car rental responded to a real need. In 1951, l’Abonnement Automobile was the first company for car rental without a driver and its fleet counted 750 4 CV.
