Job summary

Massey University’s School of Veterinary Science seeks a Veterinary Work Integrated Learning Coordinator to support BVSc student placements across NZ. The role is remote (home-based) with occasional travel to contracted providers and the Manawatū campus; hours negotiable and suitable for part-time work.

You will coordinate and mentor practices and students, ensure accreditation standards are met, and help run WIL courses, with a focus on high-quality clinical training and strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• A veterinary professional degree, e.g., BVSc, DVM, VMD etc. that enables full registration with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand (generally from an AVBC, RCVS or AVMA CoE-accredited school).
• Full drivers licence essential.
• Experience with New Zealand veterinary clinical practice, ideally including rural mixed practice.
• Previous teaching or training experience in a higher education setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with contracted veterinary practices, ensuring BVSc5 clinical training delivery and addressing issues.
• Support and train practice staff in teaching and assessing veterinary students, promoting continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and support to students during WIL placements, responding to feedback and managing expectations of students and placement providers.
• Monitor compliance with BVSc programme requirements, accreditation standards, University policies, and relevant legal obligations.
• Coordinate Veterinary Work Integrated Learning courses, working with academic and administrative staff to manage course information, student queries, and results.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the veterinary programme through professional development and representation at sector events.
