Job summary

DataAnnotation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to craft challenging, verifiable engineering problems that train AI models. You will derive correct answers and provide worked solutions, then test and refine them against AI systems while reviewing related analyses for real-world applicability.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in mechanical design, strong CAD and simulation skills, and the ability to communicate precisely in English.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in design or product development.
• Fluency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Creo, NX, CATIA or Inventor.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
• Able to write precise, unambiguous technical problems and worked solutions in fluent English.
• Based in NZ or eligible for NZ-based roles.

Responsibilities

• Write challenging, closed-ended engineering problems from your area of expertise.
• Derive, verify, and document worked solutions for AI model training.
• Test problems against AI systems and refine them for rigor.
• Review AI-generated analyses and designs for real-world applicability.
• Review peers' problems and solutions for clarity and rigor.
