Placements24 is seeking a Remote Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join a virtual team. The role centers on accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding, precise medical documentation, and compliant insurance submissions. The candidate must work autonomously, maintain HIPAA compliance, and stay current with evolving coding rules. This fully remote position supports operations across multiple regions from a home office.

Qualifications

• Certification from a recognized coding body (AAPC or AHIMA) as CPC or CCS.
• Minimum 3 years of medical billing and coding experience across various specialties.
• Proficiency with EHR systems and medical billing software.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office space for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on medical documentation.
• Review patient charts and records for completeness and accuracy of coding.
• Submit insurance claims electronically and manually; follow up on status and denials.
• Communicate with physicians and insurers to clarify information and resolve issues.
• Stay up-to-date with coding guidelines, healthcare laws and regulations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Identify trends in coding errors and suggest process improvements.
• Assist in generating reports on billing and coding activities.
