Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer for Data Infrastructure & Acquisition in Auckland, New Zealand. You will build and optimize data ingestion pipelines, collaborate with scientists to improve cost and throughput, and scale data collection to support model training for AI-powered reading tools.

The role emphasizes cloud infrastructure, data quality, and cross‑functional collaboration within a distributed team.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry software development experience.
• Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts; experience with a major cloud provider (GCP).

Responsibilities

• Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into the ingestion pipeline.
• Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline (GCP, Terraform).
• Collaborate with Scientists to balance cost, throughput and data quality at scale.
• Collaborate with the AI Team to roadmap the dataset strategy for next‑gen products.
