Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated and qualified Remote Construction Health and Safety Officer to ensure the highest safety standards across construction projects. This fully remote role requires a proactive, self-motivated professional to develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs from a distance.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., SAIOSH) is essential.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction health and safety management.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes and associated hazards.
• Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety plans and policies for construction projects.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses for all project activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national health and safety regulations.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to site personnel.
• Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections (virtually or in-person as required).
• Maintain detailed health and safety records and documentation.
• Advise project management and site teams on safety matters and best practices.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external safety consultants.
• Prepare safety reports and performance metrics.
• Stay current with changes in health and safety legislation and industry standards.
