Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Chemistry Subject Matter Expert for AI training to help shape how models reason through organic, inorganic, and interdisciplinary chemistry topics.

You will design advanced problems, craft step-by-step solutions, and evaluate AI outputs to improve accuracy and depth while collaborating with AI researchers from home.

This remote, hourly contract offers flexible hours (10–40/wk) and the chance to influence cutting-edge AI research, with potential for ongoing engagements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across advanced chemistry domains.
• Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to scientific rigor and accuracy.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design rigorous, advanced chemistry problems to test and challenge AI models across domains such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical engineering.
• Develop clear, step-by-step solution methodologies with well-structured logical reasoning.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning.
• Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks spanning undergraduate through Master’s-level chemistry topics.
• Provide structured, actionable feedback that directly improves AI performance.
