Placements24 is seeking a Remote Agricultural Data Scientist to drive precision farming through data analytics, ML, and AI. You will collect, clean, and analyze large agricultural datasets from sensors, drones, satellites, and farm management software, delivering actionable insights for farmers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Agronomy with a strong quantitative focus, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, with a significant portion applied to agricultural or environmental data.
• Proven expertise in machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning) and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas).
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of agricultural principles and precision farming techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models for crop yield prediction, disease detection, and pest forecasting.
• Analyze diverse agricultural datasets (soil, weather, imagery, operational) to identify patterns and insights.
• Design and build data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Develop algorithms for optimizing irrigation, fertilization, and planting strategies using real-time data.
• Collaborate with agronomists, engineers, and product managers to define data requirements and analytical approaches.
• Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay abreast of advances in data science, ML, and AgTech.
• Contribute to scalable, robust data-driven solutions for precision agriculture.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout analytics.
