Job summary

Barnardos Aotearoa in New Zealand is seeking a Relationship Manager, Major Donor & Legacy to grow powerful partnerships that support tamariki and whānau across Aotearoa. This permanent part-time role focuses on donor cultivation, developing compelling cases for support, and growing sustainable income from major donors and legacy gifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow meaningful relationships with current major donors.
  • Identify and grow opportunities across major giving and gifts in Wills.
  • Prepare briefings for Barnardos Aotearoa leaders for meetings and events with potential major donors.
  • Contribute to fundraising strategy, planning, forecasting and income growth.
  • Manage project visits and relationship cultivation events.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and outcomes and track income.
  • Elevate the Barnardos brand and strengthen community reputation.
  • Bring energy, ideas and collaboration to the Fundraising and Engagement team.

Relationship Manager, Major Donor & Legacy

We’re looking for an energetic, strategic and relationship-driven individual to join our team as the Relationship Manager, Major Donor & Legacy to help grow powerful partnerships that support tamariki and whānau across Aotearoa.

This is more than a fundraising role. It’s an opportunity to connect purpose with partnership, bringing major donors and legacy prospects alongside meaningful community impact and helping create brighter futures for children and families.

You’ll work with existing major donors while identifying exciting new partnership opportunities, developing compelling cases for support, and helping drive sustainable income growth for one of Aotearoa’s most trusted child and whānau organisations.

This permanent part-time position is 32 hours per week.

The role could be based in Christchurch or Wellington and will require some travel across the motu.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Building and growing meaningful relationships with our current major donors
  • Identifying and growing opportunities across major giving and gifts in Wills
