Job summary

North Island - Waikato Hamilton is seeking a motivated Therapy Aide to join our team in Auckland. You will support therapists with daily operations, help prepare treatment areas, and assist clients before, during and after sessions.

You will help with positioning and mobility during treatments, maintain records, and ensure infection-control standards are followed in a busy healthcare setting. Experience with disabilities and seniors is valued.

Qualifications

• Level 4 NZQA qualification NZ Certificate in Health & Well being (Level 4)
• Experience as a Therapy Assistant/ Health Care Assistant
• Experience in working with people with disabilities and seniors
• An understanding of healthcare in New Zealand
• Experience of working in multicultural work environment is essential

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists with the delivery of planned therapy programmes and basic therapeutic treatments according to the therapist’s instructions.
• Provide direct assistance and support to clients before, during and after therapy sessions.
• Assist clients with positioning, movement and mobility as required during therapeutic treatments and exercises.
• Prepare treatment areas, therapy equipment, towels, linens and other materials required for therapy sessions.
• Assist the therapist with basic therapeutic and rehabilitation activities within the aide’s training and delegated responsibilities.
• Follow individual therapy plans and instructions established by the supervising therapist.
• Observe clients’ responses during and following therapy and promptly report changes, discomfort, concerns or other relevant observations to the supervising therapist.
• Maintain appropriate client treatment records and document relevant information as directed by the therapist.
• Clean, sanitise and prepare therapy equipment and treatment areas in accordance with infection-control and workplace health-and-safety procedures.
• Provide direct practical assistance to therapists to support the safe and effective delivery of therapy services.
