Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Team Leader Regulatory Support for the Auckland South area to drive service excellence within the Building Consents team.

You will lead a nine-person Regulatory Support Officers team, ensuring end-to-end processing, achieving service levels, and supporting statutory performance. A strong focus on capability building, coaching, and policy-to-process translation is essential to strengthen workforce capacity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in business administration, customer services or regulatory environment.
• 3–4+ years in leadership capacity.
• A relevant qualification in business administration or Reg 18 or similar is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Territorial Authority and Building Consent Authority requirements, including policies, procedures and bylaws.
• Provide accurate advice and make decisions aligned with regulatory processes and internal policies.
• Maintain and monitor quality of end-to-end processes through audits, reviews and team competencies.
• Promote continuous improvement across business processes and systems to support the programme of work.
• Lead team performance management, including monitoring performance and staff development.
