Job summary

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in Wellington is seeking a Registry Analyst to support the NZ Emissions Trading Register, applying legislation and providing high-quality service to participants and stakeholders.

This role combines analytical thinking, problem solving, stakeholder engagement and operational delivery, working with EPA colleagues and other agencies to maintain the integrity of the ETS Register.

Qualifications

  • Experience in regulatory, operational, analytical or administrative environments.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy or business rules to make sound decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder and customer relationship skills.
  • Experience documenting or improving business processes.
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Provide business and administrative support to the NZ ETS Register.
  • Process workflows such as account maintenance activities, entitlement allocations, participant registrations, and giving effect to directions.
  • Apply legislation, policy and sound judgment to make robust operational decisions.
  • Contribute to development of operational policy and processes and monitoring of activity.
  • Respond to enquiries from ETS participants, government agencies and the public.
  • Identify operational risks, issues and opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.

About the role |Mōtetūnga

This role is based in our Wellington office. Whilewe'rehappy to consider work-from-home arrangements, this role is not designed for full-time remote working.

Join the New Zealand Emissions Trading Register team and play a key role in supporting one of New Zealand's most importanttools to reduce emissions.

As a Registry Analyst,you'llhelp ensure the effective operation of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) by applying legislation, analysing information, supporting decision-making, and providing high-quality service to participants and stakeholders.

This is a varied role that combines analytical thinking, problem solving, stakeholder engagement, and operational delivery.You'llwork closely with colleagues across the EPA and other government agencies to helpmaintainthe integrity and performance of theETSRegister.

The registry Analystis responsible for:

Providingbusiness andadministrative supportto theETS Register including processingofworkflowssuch as accountmaintenance activities,entitlementallocations,participantregistrations,andgiving effect to directionsin accordance withlegislation and operational policies.

Applyinglegislation, operationalpolicyand sound judgmentto make robust decisions on operational matters.

Contributing to the development of operational policy and processes, analysis of operational activity and issues, stakeholder relationship management, financial and statutory reporting, and supporting the implementation of business initiatives.

Responding to enquiries from ETS participants, government agencies, and the public.

Identifyingoperational risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement, and workingcollaboratively to implement solutions.

$69,203- $103,805per annum (midpoint$86,503).

This is the full salary range of the band, from 80% - 120%. Appointments willgenerally bemade at or below the midpoint of this range, depending on skills and experience.
