Alpha Recruitment is supporting a Kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation in South Auckland seeking a Registered Nurse to join a school-based health service in Mangere. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, onsite from 8:30am to 5pm, working with tamariki and whānau to promote accessible, preventative health in schools.

  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori and tikanga frameworks.
  • NZ driver's licence and reliable transport.

Responsibilities

  • Support rheumatic fever prevention and identify health needs.
  • Deliver health education, skin infection care and wound care, with follow-up.

Alpha Recruitment – Auckland, North Island

Our client is a respected Kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. They're growing fast and are looking for a Registered Nurse to join their school based health service, supporting tamariki and whānau across South Auckland.

This is a full time role, Monday – Friday onsite 8.30am-5pm in Mangere.

Working alongside a team of nurses and health professionals, you will provide accessible, preventative and early-intervention healthcare within school environments. The role is varied and community-focused, with the opportunity to build trusted relationships with children, whānau, schools and other support services.

A key part of the service is helping prevent and identify rheumatic fever, alongside supporting children with everyday health needs. You will also provide assessment, health education, skin infection and wound care, and follow-up support where required.

This position would suit a nurse who enjoys working with children, is confident engaging with whānau from diverse backgrounds, and takes a compassionate, culturally responsive approach to care.

About you
  • Registration as aRegistered Nursewith a current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate and appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
  • Experience working with tamariki and/or within community healthcare.
  • A current vaccinator authorisation certificate is preferred but those without this will still be considered.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with whānau, schools and external support services.
  • An understanding of culturally responsive practice and experience working with people from diverse communities.
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence and access to reliable transport. Petrol reimbursement is provided.
  • Strong understanding of Te Ao Māori and the ability to work within tikanga Māori frameworks.
  • Due to this being a permanent role, permanent residency or NZ citizenship is a requirement.
