Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced radiology nurse to provide hands-on, patient-centered care in a fast-paced CT/radiology environment. You will prep patients, assist with CT/cardiac scans, and support interventional procedures within a collaborative team.

Based at Kenepuru Hospital with secondary support at the Wellington site, you will contribute to high-quality care, continuous learning, and equity-focused practice in a dynamic department.

Qualifications

• Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) is mandatory.
• Annual Practising Certificate (APC) required and scope appropriate to place of work.
• 3+ years' post-graduation experience in diverse clinical settings preferred.
• Strong IV and cannulation skills; good computer skills to learn new systems.
• Level 6 Resus skills; ED or Radiology experience is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Prep patients for contrast CT, cannulate, review history and provide reassurance.
• Support CT cardiac scans, collaborate with the cardiologist, MITs and radiologists to maintain safety.
• Be a calm, reassuring presence for anxious or unwell patients from arrival to discharge.
• Based mainly at Kenepuru; provide secondary support across Wellington site within a close team.
• Broaden skills to include Interventional CT, breast and US procedures.

About the Role

No two days look the same in our Radiology service. You might start by prepping a patient for a contrast-enhanced CT - cannulating, checking their history, and putting them at ease before they head into the scanner. Then move on to supporting a CT cardiac scan, working closely with the patient and cardiologist to keep everything running safely alongside our MIT's and radiologists. You're the calm, reassuring presence for people who are often anxious or unwell, and the clinical eyes making sure each patient is cared for from the moment they arrive until they leave. It's hands-on, varied nursing where your IV and resus skills genuinely matter every day.

You'll be based primarily at Kenepuru, with secondary support across our Wellington site, as part of a close, supportive team that takes pride in doing things well and looking after each other. Beyond CT, there's real scope to broaden your skills - including our Interventional work with CT, breast and US procedures - so if you're someone who likes to keep learning and take on new challenges, you'll find plenty of room to grow here. About the Team/Service/Location

We are a friendly, professional and dedicated team of approximately 170 staff; with a 'Can Do' attitude who ensure the best possible care for our patients. Our team includes Radiologists, Medical Imaging Technologists, Sonographers, MRI Technologists, Interventional Nurse Coordinator, and Radiographic Assistants, Administration/Bookings Team, and Data/IT/Quality staff. About you

Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations skills and experience

• Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
• A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope appropriate to place of work
• 3 year's minimum post-graduation, preferably with experience in a variety of clinical settings
• Current IV skills preferred including CVAD, cannulation and PCAGood computer skills with the ability to learn new applications
• Level 6 Resus skills; ideally with ED or Radiology experience
• Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in the nursing role
• A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
• A personal commitment to on-going learning and development including attainment/maintenance of PDRP
