Job summary

Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO) invites a skilled Registered Nurse to join Holmdene, Balclutha on a fixed-term parental leave cover. You will lead a shift of care workers and Enrolled Nurses to deliver holistic health care focused on independence and quality of life for residents.

You will develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive care plan, perform general nursing functions, and apply sound clinical judgement within a supportive, resident-centred team.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate.
• Experience leading care teams and coordinating nursing care.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy aged-care environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a shift of Care Workers and Enrolled Nurses to provide comprehensive healthcare to residents.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse for our busy Enliven care home in Balclutha, South Otago.

About the role

At Enliven, we create elder-centered communities where older people have companionship, meaningful activity, purpose, and fun in their lives. As a Registered Nurse at Presbyterian Support Otago, you will lead a shift of Care Workers and Enrolled Nurses to provide comprehensive healthcare to residents in a way that promotes independence and quality of life.

You will develop, implement, and evaluate an integrated plan of health care as well as perform general nursing functions. You will need sound nursing knowledge including an awareness of legislation. You will have the ability to make clinical decisions that are in the best interests of the residents’ wellbeing and safety. Your relationships with residents and families will be built on trust, respect, and valuing the contribution they make to the home.

Hours: We have a fixed term position starting Mid-December to provide cover for a position while the incumbent is on parental leave until early September 2027 (start and end date yet to be confirmed). 72 hours per fortnight, as rostered with a variety of shifts and days.

About You

We would love you to:

• Be a New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing
• Have good clinical, communication, and leadership skills
• Have good time management and problem-solving skills, and an ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Be experienced in undertaking interRai assessment
• Empathy, compassion, and patience
• The ability to work well within a team
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Reasonable fitness and strength
• Experience in the care of older people is preferred, but not essential
