Job summary

Ramen Takara in Auckland is seeking a reliable Kitchenhand to join our busy team. You will support chefs, help with food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen hygiene in a fast-paced Japanese ramen restaurant.

Hours are 30–40 per week with shifts from 5:00 pm to late, including weekends; hourly rate NZD 25.00–28.00. Training provided and opportunity to learn authentic Japanese cuisine.

Qualifications

• Be reliable, punctual and well organised.
• Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Be passionate about Japanese cuisine and willing to learn.
• Be physically fit and capable of standing for long periods and performing manual kitchen duties.
• Have at least one year's experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
• Be available to work weekday and weekend dinner shifts (5:00 pm until late), as well as other rostered shifts when required.
• Holding a recognised Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certificate is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Clean kitchen, food preparation areas and scullery;
• Wash dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen equipment and work surfaces;
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the kitchen;
• Receive, check and store food supplies and stock;
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting and preparing ingredients;
• Assist chefs with the preparation of simple food items under their direction;
• Heat, toast and portion simple food items as instructed by chefs;
• Plate, pack and present takeaway and dine-in orders;
• Assist with stock rotation and general kitchen organisation; and
• Perform other general kitchen duties as required.
