Job summary

aah is seeking a part-time Radiologic Technologist in New Zealand. The role covers a 20-hour workweek, Monday to Friday, with eligibility for benefits. The position requires maintaining high imaging quality, safety protocols, and strong communication with the care team.

You will operate X-ray equipment, support fluoroscopic procedures, and ensure accurate labeling and RIS/HIS data entry in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Certificate with 10 years of experience or an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • IEMA accreditation eligibility with ARRT registration within 3 months of start date.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs as ordered by a physician.
  • Operates all components of the Digital Imaging System.
  • Assists radiologists in performing fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Performs radiographic procedures on Level I Trauma patients to expedite care.
  • Maneuvers portable radiographic equipment in patient care areas and in surgery as required.
  • Operates protective devices and adheres to radiation safety procedures.
  • Verifies patient and procedure prior to starting exam.
  • Prepare patients for exam and document history.

5 days M-F working a total of 20 hours each week

Pay Range:

$28.55 - $42.85

Education/Experience Required:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Certificate with 10 years of experience or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Good communication skills -Basic understanding of R.I.S., and basic computer knowledge
  • IEMA accreditation in medical radiation technology -American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) eligible with registration performed within 3 months of start date.
  • CPR certification
Major Responsibilities:
  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by a physician.
  • 5)Operates all components of the Digital Imaging System.
  • 6)Assists radiologists in performing mini-special procedures in the fluoroscopic suites.
  • 7)Performs radiographic procedures on Level I Trauma patients to expedite immediate care of critically ill patients.
  • 1)Maneuvers portable radiographic equipment in patient care areas and in surgery as required.
  • 2)Operates all components including all locking devices on radiographic, fluoroscopic equipment and c-arms.
  • 3)Assists radiologists in performing fluoroscopic examinations.
  • 4)Performs radiographic examination in surgery as required.
  • B. Determination of appropriate exposure factors and positions patient utilizing immobilization devices when appropriate to insure optimum film quality.
  • 2)Operates portable radiographic equipment and C-arm effectively in patient room, intensive care, and surgery. 2.Adheres to isolation/sterile techniques and radiation safety procedures.
  • 3)Verifies patient and procedure prior to starting exam.
  • 1)Prepare patients for exam. Obtains and records history, explains procedure, positions patients and ensures their comfort.
  • C. Adherence to department standards of radiographic quality.
  • 1)Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality.
  • 2)Reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel.
  • 3)Performs required computer function for RIS/HIS systems.
  • 4)Labels all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards.
  • D. Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, cooperation and positive interaction with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
  • 1)Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunity for professional growth.
  • 2)Attends in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures.
  • 3)Attends CPR classes to maintain re-certification.
  • 4)Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • E. Maintenance of supplies needed to ensure adequate level needed for quality patient care.
  • 1)Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • 2)Maintains inventory of supplies in work area. Identifies supplies and equipment needs for procedure, restocks work area as necessary.
  • 3)Uses Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures.
  • F. Maintains environment that is safe based on age and developmental status.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays in order to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week.
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • May be exposed to radiation during procedures.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, or be required to lift and move patients
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease and required to participate in annual emergency drills.
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
