Job summary

Synlait is seeking a Quality Manager - Compliance for a fixed-term maternity cover role, to support China SAMR registration renewal and audit readiness. You will work with teams across the business to ensure records, processes and information are in place for audits and regulatory reviews.

Fluency in Mandarin and English, along with a relevant tertiary and auditing qualification, will help you lead quality and compliance activities across dairy, infant formula and FMCG operations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in quality and compliance within dairy, infant formula, food manufacturing, FMCG or a related regulated industry.
• Experience preparing for audits, following up actions and ensuring supporting information is available.
• Knowledge of food safety, quality systems and regulatory requirements; China market experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead China SAMR registration renewal quality-related activities and help the business meet quality and compliance requirements.
• Follow up audit actions, track progress, and gather information to demonstrate compliance and audit readiness.
• Review procedures, reports, and supporting documentation to ensure clarity and audit readiness.
• Support business projects by helping teams understand and apply quality and compliance requirements.
• Assist teams in preparing for audits by guiding information presentation and required data.
• Support strengthening quality and compliance by identifying gaps and promoting compliant practices across Synlait.

This role will support our China SAMR registration renewal work, help keep us audit-ready, and work with teams across the business to close out important quality and compliance actions.

This opportunity is ideal for a quality and compliance professional who can understand detailed requirements, explain them clearly, and turn them into practical actions. You will work closely with teams across the business to make sure the right records, processes and supporting information are in place when needed.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll help keep important quality and compliance work moving, including China SAMR registration renewal, audit readiness and wider compliance activities. You'll:

• Lead China SAMR registration renewal quality-related activities and support the business to understand and meet relevant quality and compliance requirements.
• Follow up audit actions, track progress, and help gather the information required to demonstrate that all relevant compliance and audit readiness actions, including SAMR requirements, have been completed.
• Where required for compliance activities and audit preparation, review procedures, reports, and supporting documentation to ensure they are clear, complete, and ready for audit or regulatory review.
• Support business projects by helping teams understand and consider relevant quality and compliance requirements.
• Support communication in English and Mandarin Chinese, including reviewing translated documents and assisting teams to prepare clear and accurate information for SAMR audits.
• Assist teams in preparing for audits by providing guidance on the information required and how it should be presented.
• Support the business to strengthen quality and compliance by helping identify gaps, track improvement actions, and promote audit-ready and compliant ways of working across Synlait.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who brings sound quality and compliance experience, strong follow-through and the ability to work well with a range of people. You'll have:

• Significant experience in quality and compliance within dairy, infant formula, food manufacturing, FMCG or a related regulated industry.
• Experience preparing for audits, following up actions and checking that the right supporting information is available.
• Knowledge of food safety, quality systems and regulatory requirements. Experience with China market requirements would be an advantage.
• Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, with the ability to support clear technical communication between teams.
• A relevant tertiary qualification and formal auditing qualification.
• Confidence working across different teams, building good relationships and following up actions to completion.
• Good attention to detail when reviewing documents, reports, action lists and translated information.
