Job summary

Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Auckland is seeking a Quality Lead (part-time 0.8 FTE) to drive quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and accreditation across the hospital. • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate information and use data to drive improvement.
• Confidence to challenge constructively, speak up, and champion best practice.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and genuine passion for continuous improvement and patient safety.
• Strong Microsoft Office skillset, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
• Exposure to quality systems, auditing, clinical governance, health and safety, controlled document management or accreditation activities is desirable.
• Healthcare auditing qualifications or training in event review and risk management methodologies is desirable.
• A commitment to cultural safety, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and achieving equitable outcomes for diverse communities.

Quality Lead

Southern Cross Brightside Hospital

Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Epsom, Auckland has 33 in-patient beds and 6 day-stay chairs. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology.

Our hospital features an intermediate care facility, a specialised post-operative ward for patients with medical conditions or surgical issues that require an enhanced level of monitoring and care. The beds are equipped to support invasive monitoring, medical infusions, and a 24-hour monitoring service, with specialised nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver a more sophisticated level of care as required.

As our Quality Lead, you'll be at the centre of driving quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and accreditation activities across the hospital. Working closely with clinical and operational teams, you'll help identify opportunities for improvement, support meaningful change initiatives, and ensure quality remains at the heart of everything we do.

This is a highly collaborative role where relationships matter. You'll partner with people at all levels of the hospital, helping teams learn from adverse patient safety events, use data to inform decisions, embed continuous improvement into everyday practice, and ensure quality systems and documentation remain accurate, effective, and fit for purpose.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting people, processes, and outcomes to drive meaningful change. You'll influence across the hospital, champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and help ensure exceptional care remains at the heart of everything we do.
