Job description

Pure Pac’s team of two Phytosanitary Quality Controllers has an important role to play in our Cromwell Packhouse. The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all cherries meet the company's quality standards before they are packed and shipped to customers. This role involves inspecting cherries for defects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and maintaining detailed records of quality assessments. The Quality Controller will work closely with the production team to identify and resolve any quality issues, implement quality control processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is well suited to first-year/second year students, who have the potential to return back for another harvest.

Key Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications

  • Phytosanitary Certificate: A phytosanitary certificate, indicating knowledge of plant health regulations and standards, is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills for assessing quality data, trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate quality standards and issues to the production team.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks in a climate-controlled environment.

The successful applicant will be required to attend a training course before the season begins. This is a temporary contract for the duration of cherry harvest mid-December through to the end of January. Hours are variable depending on how much fruit has been harvested, you can expect shorter days in December, and longer days during our January peak. Weekend availability is required.
