Job summary

Dialog Fitzroy Ltd – Whangarei, North Island – seeks an experienced Quality Control Engineer to uphold fabrication and construction standards across diverse projects. You will manage inspection plans and ensure compliance with client expectations.

Responsibilities include writing inspection and test plans, coordinating NDT, and ensuring QA across Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and structural steel projects, while maintaining documentation and teaming with engineers and QC staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering, fabrication, or quality control.
• Understanding of quality assurance processes and inspection requirements.
• CBIP CWI certification and/or Welding Supervision qualification.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Competent with standard computer software and quality documentation systems.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to meeting client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Write and execute Inspection and Test plans for diverse projects (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, structural steel, Geothermal).
• Attend pre-start meetings, ensure work meets high standards, approve timesheets, and tackle team issues.
• Work with standards like ASME VIII, PD5500, AS 1210, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME IX, BS EN ISO 9606-1, AS/NZS 3992, AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 1554.6, AS/NZS 5131, AWS D1.1.
• Prepare weld maps, track materials, manage weld control sheets, and perform visual inspections as a Certified Welding Inspector and coordinate NDT.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Managers, Statutory Inspectors, Client Reps, Workshop staff, and QC team members.
• Working closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Statutory Inspectors, Client Representatives, Workshop Personnel, and the wider QC team
