Job summary

Comcare is seeking a motivated Assurance Officer to join the Performance, Risk & Assurance team in Christchurch. You will support the delivery of our assurance programme through internal audits, compliance reviews and quality improvement activities.

Reporting to the Director - Performance, Risk & Assurance, you will work with leaders across the organisation to strengthen systems, processes and controls, ensuring regulatory and contractual obligations are met and outcomes for clients are improved.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or practical experience in audit, assurance, quality, risk or a related field.
• 3 to 4 years' experience supporting or delivering internal audits, assurance reviews or compliance activities.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CA ANZ or CISA (or a willingness to work towards these) would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of auditing principles, risk management, regulatory compliance requirements, and relevant industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and delivery of Comcare's risk-based assurance programme, including internal audits and compliance reviews.
• Conduct audit planning, risk assessments, process reviews, and control evaluations to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Analyse information and evidence to assess compliance, control effectiveness, and organisational performance.
• Prepare clear audit reports, recommendations, and assurance documentation that support continuous improvement.
• Monitor corrective actions and coordinate external audits, accreditation reviews, and regulatory assessments.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to the ongoing development of assurance frameworks, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
