Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is seeking a 38 hours per week permanent Level 5 NZ Qualified Pharmacy Technician for the Hutt Valley hospital campus. You will provide dispensing, compounding and repacking services in a hospital environment.

There are opportunities to participate in ward-based multidisciplinary teams, medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients’ own medicines, and discharge counselling. The role may require work at other district hospitals.

Qualifications

• 1+ year pharmacy experience, hospital preferred.
• High attention to accuracy in dispensing and compounding.
• Excellent oral and written communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide dispensing, compounding and repacking in a hospital setting.
• Support medicines reconciliation and assessment of patients' own medicines.
• Assist in discharge counselling and ward-based activities.

About the Role

This is a 38 hours per week, permanent Level 5 NZ Qualified Pharmacy Technician position. Your primary role as a Pharmacy Technician will be to provide dispensing, compounding, and repacking services in a hospital environment. There are potential opportunities to participate in ward-based multidisciplinary teams, assisting the pharmacists with medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients' own medicines, and discharge counselling. This role will primarily be based at the Hutt Hospital campus, but may require you to work at the other hospitals within the District.

About the Team/Service Location

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers. As a pharmacy department, we have a strong clinical presence across all areas of the hospital and linkages into our local community. We provide a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical care and extended roles to a variety of clinical areas. Our team values professional growth and development and is focused on safe and effective medicines management for our patients.
