Job summary

Taituarā is seeking a practical, people-focused Pūkenga Kirimana Rori | Roading Contracts Engineer to help maintain the Matamata-Piako roading network. You will manage maintenance and renewal contracts, prepare documents, and support customers with roading enquiries, while coordinating with contractors and monitoring budgets.

Knowledge of NZS 3910:2025 and asset-management systems is valuable; a NZ driver licence is required.

Qualifications

• A relevant civil engineering qualification or working towards one.
• Experience in roading, civil infrastructure, contract administration or project delivery (2+ years).
• Confidence managing contracts, contractors, budgets, and variations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specs and standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage maintenance and renewal contracts from planning through to completion.
• Prepare contract documents and work with contractors.
• Monitor budgets and quality; update asset information.
• Assist customers with roading enquiries and process overweight vehicle permits.
• Provide backup support during urgent after-hours situations and emergencies.

We’relooking for a practical and people-focused Pūkenga Kirimana Rori | Roading Contracts Engineer to helpkeep the Matamata-Piako roading network safe, reliable and moving.

You’llmanage maintenance and renewal contracts from planning through to completion.This includes preparing contract documents, working with contractors,monitoring budgets and quality, updating asset information, and helpingcustomers with roading enquiries. You’ll also process overweight vehiclepermits and provide backup support during urgent after-hours situations andemergencies.

What you’ll bring:

• Arelevant civil engineering qualification—or be working towards one
• Atleast two years’ experience in roading, civil infrastructure, contractadministration or project delivery
• Confidencemanaging contracts, contractors, budgets and variations
• Theability to understand engineering drawings, specifications and standards
• Soundjudgement and strong attention to detail
• A fullNew Zealand driver licence

Knowledgeof road maintenance and renewals, NZS 3910:2025 and NZS 3917:2025,asset-management systems and overweight permits would be valuable.
