Job summary

The Treasury Te Tai Ōhanga in Wellington is seeking Government Reporting Accountants to join our Government Finance Division. We have one permanent position and two fixed-term roles (to 25 June 2027) focused on producing the Government’s financial statements and fiscal forecasts, and providing sound accounting advice to Ministers and decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant qualification with at least two years post-qualification financial accounting or auditing experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the Treasury.
• Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including project management and prioritisation in a complex work environment.
• Self-starter with initiative who can think independently and drive outcomes.
• Experience at consolidation accounting and public sector experience would be helpful but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Produce the Government's monthly financial statements and monthly forecasts.
• Provide accounting advice on a range of issues to government reporting entities.
• Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements of the Government and fiscal forecasts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, manage internal/external relationships, and communicate results effectively.
