Job summary

The Treasury in Wellington is seeking Government Reporting Accountants to help produce the Government’s annual financial statements and fiscal forecasts. You will join a dynamic team in a role that informs Ministers and supports public sector financial management.

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant qualification with at least two years post-qualification in financial accounting or auditing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the Treasury.
• Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including project management in a complex work environment.
• Focus on continuous improvement and personal accountability.
• Self-starter with initiative who can think independently and drive outcomes.
• Experience at consolidation accounting and public sector experience would be helpful but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Government's annual financial statements and fiscal forecasts.
• Provide accounting advice on a range of issues.
• Produce monthly financial statements and monthly forecasts.
• Communicate financial results to Ministers and stakeholders.
• Support accounting consolidation and cross‑agency collaboration.
