About the role

As a Property and Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the operational delivery and asset management of a designated property portfolio. This portfolio is within the Secure environment comprising of our Youth Justice and Care and Protection sites in the lower North Island while also providing support across other regions and portfolios as required. You will drive the operational performance of the portfolio through the effective management of planned and reactive maintenance programmes, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, secure, and fit for purpose. Working closely with operational teams, contractors, and service providers, you will oversee service delivery, coordinate maintenance activities, and manage the delivery of minor capital works projects from planning through to completion. As the Asset Manager for your assigned portfolio, you will be accountable for the condition, performance, and compliance of property assets, ensuring infrastructure investments and maintenance programmes support operational needs and legislative requirements. You will proactively identify risks, resolve property-related issues, and implement practical solutions that enhance asset performance, reliability, and longevity. This opportunity requires resilience, sound judgement, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to work independently in a complex operational environment. Above all you will be committed to creating safe, secure and functional environments that support our kaimahi, and the tamariki and rangatahi in our care.

What you will bring
  • Proven experience in property, facilities, asset or infrastructure management, ideally across a diverse property portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage reactive and planned maintenance programmes, ensuring assets remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Experience delivering minor capital works projects, including planning, contractor management, budgeting and project oversight.
  • Excellent demonstrated resilience in complex operational environments.
  • Have outstanding communication and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passionate about making a real change to the lives of tamariki and rangatahi whilst partnering with frontline leaders on site.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex ideas in engaging and easy to understand terms.
  • Solid understanding of financial data and support recommendations with quantitative data.
  • Experienced in managing multiple contracts, supplier, and service level agreements in a live environment.
  • Confidence in Health and Safety compliance and reporting.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
