Job summary

RobLawMax Recruitment is seeking an experienced civil infrastructure professional to join a major transport project in New Zealand as the client’s representative throughout delivery. You will act as the eyes and ears on the ground to protect the client’s interests and ensure commitments are delivered.

This senior role requires confidence in project meetings, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to influence outcomes across a broad group of partners.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or diploma required.
  • Proven experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects in New Zealand.
  • Strong knowledge of granular pavements, asphalt concrete works and pavement construction.
  • Solid understanding of NZS3910 and commercial project delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Confidence to operate in complex project environments with multiple partners.
  • Strong commercial acumen, project controls and risk management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the client's representative across assigned project workstreams.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants and project partners to drive outcomes.
  • Identify risks, issues and delivery gaps before they impact programme objectives.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and represent the client in meetings and forums.
  • Review project performance, reporting and commercial outcomes.
  • Support contract administration, variations and project controls.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental expectations are met.
  • Provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive accountability across all parties involved in project delivery.

Job description

An opportunity exists for an experienced civil infrastructure professional to join a major transport project and act as the client's representative throughout project delivery.

This is not a traditional contractor-side Project Manager role.

You will be the eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring the companies interests are protected, commitments are delivered, and allocated workstreams are progressing as planned. Working within a complex project environment involving multiple contractors, consultants and stakeholders, you will play a critical role in coordinating activities, holding delivery partners accountable and ensuring your organisation receives the outcomes it is responsible for.

This role requires someone who can confidently take up space in project meetings, challenge assumptions when required, build strong working relationships and influence outcomes across a broad stakeholder group.

About the Role

Reporting into senior project leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring assigned project scopes are delivered effectively and that commitments made by delivery partners are achieved.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • An Engineering Degree or Diploma.
  • Proven experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects within New Zealand.
  • Strong knowledge of granular pavements, pavement construction and asphalt concrete works.
  • Strong understanding of NZS3910 and commercial project delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The confidence and presence to operate effectively in complex project environments with multiple delivery partners.
  • Strong commercial acumen, project controls and risk management capability.
  • Current New Zealand working rights with the ability to work permanently in New Zealand.
