Job summary

Assemble Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead civil construction projects in Christchurch from tender through to completion. You will coordinate earthworks, drainage and infrastructure works, ensuring safety, on-time delivery and budget adherence while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

The role requires proven civil construction management experience, contract administration understanding and capability to manage multi-site resources.

Qualifications

• Experience managing civil construction projects including earthworks, site development and drainage.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, contract administration and site operations.
• Experience coordinating resources, plant, equipment and subcontractors across stages.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, variations and costs.
• Relevant qualifications in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan, program and deliver civil construction projects from commencement through to handover.
• Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, suppliers, plant and equipment to hit milestones.
• Manage project budgets, costs, variations, progress claims and financial performance.
• Develop and maintain project programmes, schedules and reporting requirements.
• Monitor performance to ensure works are safe, on time, within budget and to spec.
• Lead client, contractor and site meetings with regular project updates.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, stakeholders and project teams.
• Identify project risks, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

We are partnering with a well-established civil contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Christchurch-based team.

This hands-on role offers the opportunity to lead civil construction projects from tender through to completion, working across a diverse range of earthworks and infrastructure projects.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

About the Role

• Planning, programming and delivering civil construction projects from commencement through to handover.
• Coordinating site crews, subcontractors, suppliers, plant and equipment to achieve project milestones.
• Managing project budgets, costs, variations, progress claims and financial performance.
• Developing and maintaining project programmes, schedules and reporting requirements.
• Monitoring project performance to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to specification.
• Leading client, contractor and site meetings while providing regular project updates.
