Job summary

Omexom New Zealand seeks a Project Manager in Mt. Wellington, Auckland to plan and deliver projects on time, within quality standards and profit targets.

You will manage planning, procurement, reporting, variations, and labour, while ensuring health and safety compliance and client satisfaction. This role offers comprehensive benefits and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, NZCE, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical and construction project management.
  • Estimating/tendering skills and hands-on approach.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Knowledge of contracting procedures and contract law.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Full Class 1 NZ driver’s license.
  • Attention to detail and decisive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement all projects to ensure on-time completion and required quality.
  • Order major materials and equipment for projects.
  • Plan projects using planning packages to meet milestones and optimize resources.
  • Maintain project margins and address cost/time variances.
  • Ensure timely company and contractual reporting.
  • Re-estimate labour to complete job monthly.
  • Identify and secure client-authorised variations.
  • Ensure compliance with Contract Agreement and progress claims.
  • Manage labour to maintain productivity and industrial relations.
  • Comply with Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and related regulations.

About the Role

Looking for your next big opportunity? We’ve got an exciting Project Manager role just for you! In this position, you will plan and implement all projects to ensure they are completed on time, to an appropriate quality standard and to achieve planned profit or better as per project bid targets, making a real impact.

  • Ordering of the major items of materials and equipment for projects.
  • Planning the project utilising computer-based planning packages to ensure milestones are achieved and resources optimised.
  • Achieving project margins, identifying any problems with cost and time implications and taking corrective action as required.
  • Ensuring that all required company and contractual reporting is completed correctly and on time.
  • Re-estimating labour to complete the job at the end of each month.
  • Identifying all variations are identified, submitted and authorised by the client.
  • Ensuring that both the company and the client comply with the Contract Agreement.
  • Ensuring that the monthly progress claims are presented correctly on the due dates.
  • Managing labour to maintain excellent productivity and industrial relations.
  • Understand and comply with your obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and all associated regulations, standards, and approved codes of practice.
  • Comply with any reasonable instruction given to you by the company relating to health and safety
Qualifications and Skills
  • Engineering Degree, NZCE, or similar.
  • Hands‑on experience in electrical and construction project management.
  • Possess estimating/tendering skills, with an ability to be hands‑on.
  • A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Knowledge of industry contracting procedures and contract law.
  • Excellent inter‑personal skills with customers at all levels
  • A solid level of problem‑solving skills.
  • Hold a full Class 1 NZ driver’s license
  • Attention to detail and confident decision‑making ability
