Job summary

JobSpace in Wellington is seeking a Project Engineer Mechanical to join our team on a complex infrastructure project. You will coordinate the installation, integration, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems including pumps, piping and process plant, ensuring safety and quality on site.

You will work across civil, structural and electrical interfaces, interpret technical drawings and specifications, and support procurement and subcontractor coordination to deliver seamless project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–7 years' experience in mechanical construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in installation of mechanical plant such as pumps, piping, or process systems.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning and testing processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee installation, integration, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.

We are seeking a Project Engineer Mechanical to join our team in Wellington, supporting the successful delivery of a complex infrastructure project.

In this role, you will coordinate and oversee the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems including thermal drying equipment, conveyors, pumps, pipework, and associated process plant.

You will play a key role in ensuring all mechanical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications while managing interfaces across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to achieve seamless project execution.

What We Are Looking For

We're looking for a motivated and capable mechanical engineer who thrives in a site-based delivery environment and enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams.

You will bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3–7 years' experience in mechanical construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience in installation of mechanical plant such as pumps, piping, or process systems
  • Strong understanding of commissioning and testing processes
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance
Highly regarded:
  • Experience in water, wastewater, or process plant projects
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary coordination across mechanical, civil, and electrical systems
  • Experience with procurement, subcontractor management, and OEM/vendor coordination
  • Involvement in commissioning and start-up of process systems
