Job summary

MBIE is the Crown lead agency for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028, with a fixed-term/secondment opportunity in Wellington CBD. As Project Coordinator, you will establish project plans, monitoring tools and reporting frameworks to keep the programme on track across multiple workstreams.

You will coordinate stakeholder engagements, meetings and workshops, support governance and reporting requirements and maintain critical programme documentation to enable senior leaders to make informed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years coordinating projects, programmes or work with multiple moving parts
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise competing demands and attention to detail
  • Experience developing and maintaining project plans, monitoring systems and programme documentation
  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality reports, dashboards and other project information for different audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience coordinating meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements, with agendas, minutes and action tracking
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and bringing structure and momentum to complex work
  • Strong MS Office skills and ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
  • Collaborative working style

About the Role - Tēnei tūranga

MBIE is the Crown lead agency for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028, one of the world's premier international sporting events. The T20 World Cup Programme Office has been established within the Tourism and Hospitality Branch to help ensure Aotearoa New Zealand delivers a seamless, world-class tournament while maximising the long-term economic, tourism and community benefits for New Zealand.


As Project Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of this high-profile programme. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you'll work across multiple workstreams to ensure the programme is organised, well-coordinated and tracking towards key milestones and deliverables.


This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll establish project plans, monitoring tools and reporting frameworks, coordinate stakeholder engagements, meetings and workshops, and provide oversight across a range of programme activities. You'll also support governance and reporting requirements, maintain critical programme documentation, and help ensure senior leaders have the information they need to make informed decisions.


Success in this role will come from your ability to build strong relationships, bring structure to complex projects, and maintain a clear focus on priorities while working across multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.

  • At least 5 years' experience coordinating projects, programmes or complex pieces of work with multiple moving parts

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and maintain attention to detail

  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality reports, dashboards and other project information tailored to different audiences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to quickly build strong and effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools

  • A positive, proactive and collaborative working style
