Programme Manager - Contract role

Our client is looking to hire a Programme Manager to work closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and business leaders to coordinate programme activities, manage interdependencies, mitigate risks and ensure intended outcomes and benefits are achieved. This will be a Wellington-based contract role till the end of December 2026.

Successful candidates will have…

Essential:

• Demonstrated experience leading complex programmes or large-scale initiatives in a complex organisational environment.
• Strong programme delivery, planning, governance, reporting, and assurance experience.
• Proven ability to manage risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, resources, and competing priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and influencing skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of governance and executive-level reporting.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering collaborative, high-performing delivery environments.
• Sound understanding of programme and project management methodologies and practices.
• Experience delivering business change, transformation, digital, or service improvement initiatives.

Desired:

• Experience within the New Zealand health sector or public sector environment.
• Relevant programme or project management qualification (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
• Experience working within portfolio, investment, or transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of benefits management and governance practices.
