Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections is seeking a Programme Facilitator for Invercargill, with travel as needed. You will deliver therapeutic programmes to people in our care, both in prisons and in the community, to address the causes of offending and support positive change.

The role requires excellent communication, a tikanga Māori framework, resilience, and a commitment to wellbeing and work‑life balance. Travel and a NZ driver’s licence are expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with a natural ability to engage and build relationships.
• Cultural understanding including working under a tikanga Māori framework.
• Resilience and flexibility – no two days will be the same.
• Self‑insight, wellbeing with a focus on a strong work/life balance.
• Understanding of de‑escalation and conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinically designed therapeutic programmes, individually or with a co‑facilitator.
• Engage people in our care to understand and address offending and create crime‑free futures.
• Motivate and collaborate with colleagues to support positive life changes.
