Job summary

Higgins Concrete Limited is seeking a hands-on supervisor to oversee day-to-day concrete manufacture and delivery in Auckland. You will support the Auckland Manager with branch operations, customer commitments, and sales alignment to keep the plant running smoothly.

You will lead batchers, despatch, technicians and drivers, run toolbox meetings, and handle basic disciplinary matters. A current Class 1 licence and a willingness to be hands-on are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in concrete manufacturing, despatch, lab or plant supervision.
• Experience supervising an operational team.
• A current Class 1 driver’s licence and willingness to get stuck in.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day manufacture and delivery of concrete, to time and to spec.
• Assist the Auckland Manager with branch operations, customer commitments, sales alignment, and duties that keep the plant running.
• Supervise batchers, despatch, technicians, and drivers; run toolbox meetings and basic disciplinary meetings on day-to-day performance and behaviour.
• Follow up customer concerns and close them out.
• Attend pre-pour meetings with commercial customers so the pour is agreed before the trucks roll.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections so trucks and loads are right before they leave.
• Ensure production requirements are met, including batching quality, product correction, raw materials, and plant readiness.
• Lead health and safety on the floor, including toolbox meetings, so our systems are followed, targets are met, and nothing is walked past.
• Keep production aligned with the sales team so we do what we said we would.
• Step into despatch, the lab, batching, or sales when needed so the day does not stop.

About You

Proven experience in concrete manufacturing, despatch, lab or plant supervision, some sales experience would be bonus points.

Experience supervising an operational team.

A current Class 1 driver's licence and a willingness to get stuck in.

A sound understanding of daily production planning in a concrete plant.

A clear commitment to health and safety.

Strong communication and the judgement to support a manager.

Reliable, punctual, and calm on a full order book.
