Job summary

New World Bishopdale in Christchurch is seeking a Produce Assistant to join our friendly team. This Friday-only role runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with training available and the opportunity to grow within a busy, quality-focused produce department.

You will assist with receiving, stocking, displaying, and helping customers while maintaining fresh, tidy displays and high food-safety standards. A positive attitude and reliability are valued, with full training provided for the right applicant.

Qualifications

• Comfortable standing and handling fresh produce.

• Previous supermarket or produce experience is a bonus; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Produce preparation and stocking – Receive, unpack, rotate and replenish fresh fruit and vegetables to keep stock fresh for customers.
• Department presentation – Keep displays full, tidy and visually appealing throughout the day.
• Quality control – Check produce for freshness and quality, remove damaged items.
• Customer service – Serve customers with a smile, answer questions and help them find what they need.
• Food safety & cleanliness – Maintain high standards of hygiene and safe food handling.
• Teamwork – Work with the wider supermarket team to keep the department running smoothly.

We’re on the lookout for aProduce Assistantto join our hardworking and friendly team. This is aFriday role, 9:00am–5:00pm (8 hours), with the opportunity to become part of a supportive team that takes pride in providing quality fresh produce to our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Produce Preparation & Stocking – Receive, unpack, rotate and replenish fresh fruit and vegetables, ensuring stock is fresh and available for customers.
