About the opportunity

We have an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our Supply Chain team. You will lead strategic procurement activity, build effective supplier relationships, and work closely with internal stakeholders to support commercial, quality, delivery, and supply continuity objectives.

A key focus of this role is the procurement of electronic components. You will bring practical category experience across electronic parts and supply markets, with the ability to manage cost, availability, lifecycle, and supplier risk in a complex manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing procurement and category strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Leading sourcing activities, including requests for quotation, information, and proposal, tendering, supplier selection, and commercial negotiation.
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts.
  • Procuring electronic components and working with suppliers and cross-functional teams to address cost, availability, obsolescence, lifecycle, quality, and continuity-of-supply risks.
  • Identifying and delivering cost-reduction, value-improvement, and supply-assurance opportunities.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Product Development, and other stakeholders to support new product introduction and ongoing supply requirements.
  • Assessing supplier capability, performance, technical capacity, and commercial risk.
  • Providing clear procurement leadership, sound commercial judgement, and effective stakeholder communication.
About you

You are a commercially astute procurement professional who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You build credibility quickly, are confident working across technical and commercial topics, and are comfortable operating in a fast-moving global supply environment.

  • Demonstrated procurement or category management experience, ideally in a manufacturing, medical device, technology, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Practical experience procuring electronic components, with an understanding of relevant suppliers, market dynamics, lead times, lifecycle considerations, and supply risks.
  • Strong commercial negotiation, contract management, tendering, and supplier relationship management capability.
  • Experience with RFQ, RFI, and RFP processes and supplier capability assessment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, supply chain, procurement, commerce, or a related discipline. CIPS, APICS, or an equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Global commercial awareness and experience working with international suppliers would be advantageous.
