Job summary

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in Auckland to audit supplier quality control, review QMS, and partner with Procurement to drive supplier selection and approval. You will reduce risk and support high-quality components for medical devices.

You will lead investigations, apply PFMEA, and use statistical methods to monitor processes, influenced by a culture of care. This is a 6‑month fixed term role with impact across manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience in a supplier quality, or quality systems engineer role, ideally within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • A Science / Engineering, or relevant, tertiary degree.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485
  • Proven ability to lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective actions. . (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Knowledge of statistical technics, Risk management (PFMEA) and control plans
  • Understanding drawings and GD&T principals.
  • Experience with test method validation
  • Understanding of process validation, and process controlKnowledge or experience with relevant manufacturing processes (e.g. moulding, packaging, hardware/electronics, extrusion).
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal to communicate with external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong Negotiation and Influencing skills
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and developing supplier capability is preferred
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance quality, supply continuity, and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Check supplier quality control adherence and review Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Visit supplier premises as required and oversee supplier selection and approval with Procurement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain and manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate product specifications and implement robust production controls.

About The Role

The Supplier Quality team within Group Quality supports patient care and outcomes by partnering with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure that our suppliers, and the materials and services they provide, are compliant with engineering and manufacturing specifications and that they meet our company and international standards.

We currently have a 6-month fixed term opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Supplier Quality team. In this role you will work directly with external suppliers (local and from overseas) to carry out checks of supplier’s quality control and review their Quality Management Systems to ensure they meet quality standards as well as visit their premises as required. You’ll work closely with F&P’s Procurement team to oversee the supplier selection and approval process.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping minimise business and quality risks, improve patient care and outcomes, and contribute to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's long-term success. Leveraging your expertise in risk management, statistical analysis, problem solving, and auditing, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives across our supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Your strong background in manufacturing and process control will enable you to ensure supplier processes consistently deliver components that meet our high-quality standards. You will partner closely with suppliers to evaluate product specifications, implement robust production and process controls, and build sustainable capability. Combined with your commercial awareness and collaborative approach, you'll help create value for both our suppliers and the business while supporting the delivery of innovative healthcare solutions.

Skills & Experience
