Job summary

Rakon in Auckland seeks a passionate Process Engineer with strong experience in manufacturing environments. You will support and optimise existing processes while developing new ones to drive quality, productivity, and the successful introduction of new products.

This role includes providing process engineering support to maintain control, driving innovation, supporting NPI with DFM and FMEA, and developing PFMEAs/MSAs, plus selecting and optimising equipment and delivering yield improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in high-tech electronics manufacturing.
  • Degree in Electronic, Mechatronic, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience in process design and development with qualification and validation of equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong ownership and delivering outcomes within agreed timelines.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with frequency control and timing technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive process engineering support to the manufacturing team to keep production processes in control and maintained to defined standards.
  • Drive process engineering innovation to optimise performance and align with industry best practices.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives with DFM and FMEA methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs and MSAs for new processes.
  • Select, commission and optimise new manufacturing equipment for process enhancement and capacity expansion.
  • Identify, develop and deliver yield and productivity improvements across product families.
  • Monitor and analyse process performance data to identify trends and risks; mentor graduate engineers and staff.

As a Process Engineer, you will support and optimise existing manufacturing processes while developing new ones. Your work will directly influence quality, productivity, and the successful introduction of new products.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive process engineering support to the manufacturing team to ensure production processes remain in control and are maintained to defined standards.
  • Drive process engineering innovation to support future process development, ensuring process performance is optimised and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by applying methodologies such as Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Develop and maintain process validation documentation for new processes, including Process FMEAs (PFMEAs) and Measurement Systems Analyses (MSAs).
  • Select, commission, and optimise new manufacturing equipment to enable both process enhancement and capacity expansion.
  • Identify, develop, and deliver yield and productivity improvements across multiple product families.
Technical Leadership
  • Monitor and analyse process performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to graduate engineers and process engineering staff to support their professional development.
What You’ll Bring
