Job summary

Stuff is seeking an enthusiastic Print Operations Assistant - Night Shift to join our Christchurch print team. This hands-on night role runs from 4:00pm to 12:00am, handling mailroom machinery that collates, inserts and bundles newspapers for dispatch.

You will operate Ferag lines, post-press equipment, and Cortex software, counting and packing products for transport while prioritising safety and meeting tight production deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a modern print publishing environment is preferred, but training will be given.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and computer literacy including Cortex software.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist operation of Ferag packing and inserting lines under supervisor direction.
  • Set up, prepare, and operate specialised post-press equipment.
  • Count, pack, wrap, strap and palletise products for off-site transport.
  • Operate Cortex software and plateroom equipment.
  • Maintain safe and tidy work area by following HS W policies and reporting hazards.

Want to do great stuff for Stuff? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Print Operations Assistant - Night Shift to join our Christchurch print team.

This is a hands on night shift role (4:00pm - 12:00am) working with mailroom machinery that collates, inserts and bundles newspapers for dispatching. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment and providing the best possible result in the form of counted and labelled bundles of newspapers.

Day to day, you’ll be busy working on:
  • Assisting with the operation of Ferag packing and inserting lines under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Setting up, preparing, and operating specialised equipment used in the post press production process.
  • Carrying out hands on counting, packing, wrapping, strapping, and palletising of products for transportation off site.
  • Operating Cortex software and plateroom equipment.
  • Ensuring our HSW policies are adhered to, reporting hazards, and keeping the work area safe, clean, and tidy.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Experience in a modern print publishing environment is preferred, but training will be given.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and computer literacy (including Cortex Client software).
  • The ability to meet tight production deadlines with strong time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work across different departments and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Problem solving and fault finding skills
