Department of Conservation – Te Papa Atawhai in Kaitaia seeks an authoritative Principal Ranger to lead conservation delivery and people management. You will coordinate staff, plan programmes, and build partnerships with iwi and stakeholders to deliver regional conservation outcomes.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive strategic leadership, oversee budgets, and influence district-wide decision-making while aligning with DOC values and continuous improvement.

Qualificações

• An experienced people leader who can empower, motivate, and foster a positive team culture.
• Strong financial planning, budgeting, and resource management skills.
• Experience delivering operational outcomes across geographically dispersed environments.
• Excellent communicator and collaborator who builds trusted relationships.
• Experience managing projects, contracts, and work programmes to achieve outcomes.
• Proven ability to work with whānau, hapū, iwi, communities and partners.
• Ability to think strategically, navigate complexity, and contribute to district planning.

• Managing budgets and monitoring performance, outputs, and risks.
• Collaborating with DOC teams and partners to achieve conservation objectives.
