Job summary

SLR Consulting is recruiting a Principal Planner for Dunedin. You will lead complex planning and policy projects, mentor planners, and grow client opportunities across local government, infrastructure, renewables, and development sectors.

You will work within the Southern Planning team to deliver high-quality planning solutions with nationwide support and a collaborative culture. The role offers autonomy and professional development in a respected consultancy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years NZ planning experience in consultancy, local government, or related environment.
• Full NZPI membership, or ability to achieve it.
• Experience leading complex planning, policy, and/or consenting projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex planning, policy, and consenting projects across a diverse client portfolio.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships and grow SLR's presence in key sectors.
• Provide high-level planning expertise and strategic advice to clients and project teams.
• Mentor and develop planners across the Southern region and national team.
• Undertake technical reviews to ensure high-quality project delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
