BNZ is seeking a Principal Engineer in Wellington to lead the transformation of our Lending Platforms. You will work hands-on across modernization and legacy technology to deliver safe, scalable, customer-centric outcomes in a hybrid role based in Wellington.

You will shape architecture, engineering practices and technology strategy while mentoring engineers and guiding cross-team initiatives. This is a rare opportunity to influence BNZ's tech landscape and drive AI-enabled solutions responsibly.

Qualifications

7 to 10+ years in enterprise applications with Java and/or .NET.
Experience designing and supporting RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
Exposure to React for modern web application development.
Strong CI/CD, deployment automation, source control and DevOps practices.
Proven ability to lead cross-team initiatives and influence architecture.
Design for resilience, performance and testability.
Mentorship and establishing engineering standards across teams.
