Job summary

Southern Cross Healthcare in Auckland is seeking a Principal Cyber Security Engineer to shape and lead our cyber defence across Security Operations, threat detection, incident response and automation. You will guide complex security engineering initiatives and mentor engineers while partnering with the Cyber Defence Technical Lead.

You’ll work across on-premises and cloud-native environments, with emphasis on DevSecOps, infrastructure as code and AI-driven security.

Qualifications

• Extensive cyber security experience across SOC, IR, detection engineering and security engineering.
• Proven technical leadership in principal/lead roles.
• Experience building and improving Security Operations capabilities.
• Hands-on with SIEM, XDR/EDR, SOAR and cloud security.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and cyber resilience exercises is valued.
• Experience in large enterprise or regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation across Security Operations, threat detection and incident response.
• Lead vulnerability management and security automation initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership across Cloud security, DevSecOps and IaC.
• Mentor Security Operations Engineers and Analysts.
• Be on-call to respond to significant cybersecurity incidents.
