Job summary

NZ Transport Agency | Waka Kotahi (NZTA) seeks a Principal Protective Security Risk Advisor – Cyber to lead complex cyber risk assessments and guide secure solutions through certification and accreditation. You will work across critical corporate and transport services, informing strategic and operational decisions with robust risk analysis.

Qualifications

• Strong background in cyber security risk assessment.
• Experience using common risk assessment tools.
• Sound understanding of enterprise IT and cyber risks.
• Proficient with conversational AI and structured prompts for security analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead cyber security risk assessments across NZTA systems and services.
• Provide expert advice using PSR, NZISM, ISO 31000 and industry best practice.
• Produce risk evaluation artefacts with risk positions and control recommendations.
• Define risk-proportionate security controls for secure outcomes.
• Present cyber security risks and recommendations to governance forums.
• Utilize AI-assisted methods to enhance risk identification, analysis and control identification while maintaining oversight.
• Contribute to improvements of Governance, Risk, and Compliance tooling for risk evaluations.
