NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) in Auckland seeks a Principal Compliance Officer to lead regulatory work, advance continuous improvement, and act as the regulatory subject matter expert within the Safer Commercial Transport team.

You will manage the work programme, mentor staff, lead investigations and audits, and engage with operators and stakeholders to drive high safety and compliance standards. Salary range NZD 111,051–123,390 per annum.

• Extensive experience in a regulatory or compliance environment and ability to navigate complex frameworks to ensure standards are met.
• Proven ability to lead complex investigations or audits.
• Experience in reporting on workflow and outcomes, and ability to clearly communicate progress and outcomes.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with systems thinking.
• Experience in mentoring and coaching others.
• Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and credibility.
• Knowledge of Te Ao Maori, Te Reo Maori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the public service.

This is a role where you will play a pivotal part in growing our culture of continuous improvement and be our regulatory subject matter expert.In this role you'll provide support to the Regional Manager Compliance, team members and the wider Safer Commercial Transport team in to drive effectiveness through the delivery of quality work and evidence-based decision making.
