Are you a compassionate and motivated Primary Care Assistant looking to make a real difference in your community?

Ruatahi Medical Centre is seeking a capable and caring Primary Care Assistant (PCA) to join our friendly and supportive clinical team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a patient-centred practice that is committed to delivering high-quality, culturally responsive healthcare to our diverse community.

Working under the direction and delegation of our Registered Health Practitioners, you will provide clinical support, assist with patient care, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of our busy general practice.

Hours

• 4–5 days per week (days to be confirmed with the successful candidate)
• Between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm (hours to be confirmed with the successful candidate)
• Flexibility to work across these hours is essential.

About the Role

As a Primary Care Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting our clinical team by:

• Assisting with patient care and clinical procedures under delegation
• Performing clinical support tasks such as blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, observations and specimen collection (where trained)
• Preparing treatment rooms and maintaining clinical equipment
• Supporting health promotion initiatives and patient education
• Assisting with administrative tasks and maintaining accurate patient records
• Providing a welcoming, respectful and culturally safe experience for patients and their whānau
• Working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for patients

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• The ability to build positive relationships with patients, whānau and colleagues

• Good computer skills (experience with Medtech is an advantage)
• Previous experience as a Primary Care Assistant in primary care or another healthcare setting (preferred)
• Experience performing clinical support tasks such as blood pressure monitoring and ECGs (preferred)
• A willingness to learn, develop new skills and contribute to continuous improvement
• A commitment to health equity and culturally safe care
