Job summary

Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Taranaki Base Hospital, seeks a NZ Registered Physiotherapist to join the Preadmission team in New Plymouth. The role provides safe, evidence-based physiotherapy for patients listed for elective surgeries within a multidisciplinary team.

You will optimise pre-operative care, develop discharge plans, and work closely with MDTs to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Physiotherapist with Annual Practising Certificate.
• 2–3 years acute inpatient hospital experience.
• Hospital-based community service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ACC processes and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective preadmission physiotherapy for elective surgery patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Develop discharge plans to support post-operative care and home transition.
• Optimise pre-operative care to prepare patients for procedures.
• Collaborate with MDTs and Pre-Admission Teams to coordinate care.
