Job summary

Ministerial Services are seeking expressions of interest from talented professionals to work in a Ministerial office in the 55th Executive Government in Wellington, New Zealand.

Advisory roles involve providing general and political advice to Ministers, developing relationships with Ministers, Caucus, and coalition partners, and facilitating policy and legislation within portfolio responsibilities. Roles may be solo or part of a small advisory team.

Qualifications

• Understanding New Zealand's machinery of Government and parliamentary processes.
• Strong political judgement, discretion and risk awareness.
• Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear advice for decision making.
• Experience developing policy and progressing it to legislation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of the Official Information Act and policy development.
• Ability to identify and mitigate political, reputational, and operational risks.

Responsibilities

• Provide general and political advice to Ministers on the portfolio(s).
• Develop effective relationships with Ministers, Caucus, coalition and support parties.
• Facilitate progress of policy and legislation within a Minister's portfolio responsibilities.
• Collaborate with a team of Advisors or work independently in a Ministerial Office.
