Job summary

MBIE in Wellington seeks a Policy Advisor to shape labour market and workforce policy by developing strategic advice for Ministers and collaborating with industry and other agencies.

You will analyse trends, provide evidence-based recommendations, and support workforce planning across sectors while adapting to future challenges such as AI and demographic changes. Flexible working options available.

Qualifications

• Excellent policy analysis and advisory skills.
• Ability to think strategically.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management across agencies and industry partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
• Must have legal right to live and work in NZ.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic advice to Ministers on labour market and workforce policy.
• Collaborate across government and industry to shape employment, skills and workforce initiatives.
• Analyse emerging trends and influence government responses to future labour market challenges.
• Partner with industry and government agencies to support workforce planning and respond to issues such as AI, demographics, or shifts in industries.
